Engraved by Christian Gottfried Rupenhausen (c.1800–1820)

Part of Hogarth’s moral series Four Times of the Day, “Morning” contrasts the piety of church-goers with the debauchery of Covent Garden market. Rupenhausen’s engraving captures the bustle and layered satire of the original.
